Background: Formerly known as Furude Rika Films. This company was started by the residents of Hinamizawa to distribute anime and horror films. The company was named after Rika Furude, the shrine maiden of the Furude shrine. The company did not last long though, because of the town’s dark secret the company was shut down in 1990, leaving it to be forgotten. Based on the anime Higurashi.

1st logo
(1978-1983)

Nicknames: "Boring", "Rika Text"

Logo: It’s only an in credit text saying “Furude Rika Films”.

FX/SFX: None

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme of the movie

Variants:
  • Sometimes, the text would be shown on a black background.
  • Copyright would sometimes appear under the text.

Availability: Appeared on many movies released by the company until 1983. Some movies had the logo plastered with the newer ones. It is now a hard find because after 1990, films having this logo were edited over.

Scare Factor: None, it’s pretty much harmless, but it's boring.

2nd logo
(1980-1990)

Rika Films (2nd Logo)

Nicknames: "Kawaii Rika"

Logo: On a black background, we see Rika looking at us, smiling. The text “Furude Rika Films” appears in gold above.

FX/SFX: None

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme of the movie

Variants:
  • Starting in 1983, the word “Furude” was omitted. Therefore, the text read “Rika Films
  • Copyright would sometimes appear under the logo.

Availability: Seen on all films until 1990. Although this logo was edited over after 1990, it can still be seen on a few VHS releases. Even though the next logo was introduced 2 years after this one, this logo did not end until a year later.

Scare Factor: None. Rika looks cute and it’s pretty much harmless, there's NOTHING compared to the next logo...



3rd logo
(1982-1983)

Nicknames: "Graphic Rika", "Violent Rika", "Devil Rika"

Logo: We see Rika, with her eyes wide. She then grabs a knife, and starts slashing and stabbing someone. Blood splatters everywhere, and then Rika turns to us with a demonic look. The words “Rika Films” in black futuristic font with red glow around, fade in as the screen fades to black.

FX/SFX: The animation and the graphic scenes in the logo

Music/Sounds: The dark techno music mixed with sounds of blood being splattered, and a flash when the text appears.

Variants:
  • There was another variant in which Rika is seen with a knife in her hand and an evil look on her face. The screen then cuts to black, and the words “Rika Films” fade in.
  • There was a still variant which skipped then entire killing scene.

Availability: Extinct. Horror films were the ones mostly seen with this logo. This logo has been edited out or plastered due to this logo being so graphic, especially after 1990. Some films having this logo have even been destroyed.

Scare Factor: Nightmare, Rika killing someone in front of everyone can scare a lot of people. Medium to High for the alternative variant and none for the still variant.



4th logo

Logo: We just see a certain picture of Rika, usually at night. The text “Rika Films” fades in underneath.

FX/SFX: None
Variants:
  • The picture could vary at times, and there was incredibly many variants.
  • On rare occasions, Hanyuu could be seen in the logo with Rika.
  • Sometimes, copyright appeared underneath.

Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme.

Availability: Rare. When the company was shut down in 1990, the logo was edited over on many of its films, along with the other ones. It is now a really hard find.
