PBS Movies

Background: PBS Movies is the movie production arm of the Public Broadcasting Service, established in 1985 to produce movies based on PBS shows, which are distributed by Warner Bros. (pre-2004) and Paramount Pictures (post-2004). They have also produced some original films.

1st Logo
(August 2, 1985)

Logo: Following the Warner Bros. logo (custom-made for the movie), we pan down and see a 2D urban alley background. Suddenly, a 2D Oscar the Grouch heads through the alley, but slips over and crashes into each of the background objects, which is revealed to be a movie set and then finally crashes into the screen. Oscar then falls through the concrete and we pan down, where he crashes into a blue object and falls off. We zoom out to reveal that blue object is actually the 3rd PBS ident. Oscar then announces "Sesame Street is brought to you today by the letters P, B and S". We then pan back up, then the movie begins.

FX/SFX: 2D animation produced by CTW...

Cheesy Factor: ...which is slightly choppy.

Music/Sounds: Dramatic music along with yelping from Oscar
when he's about to crash into the screen, that segues into the same music as the 3rd PBS ident. Also, Oscar's announcement.

Availability: Rare. It's only seen on Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird. This logo also appeared as a PBS ident in Summer 1985.

Scare Factor: Minimal; Oscar running up to the screen may surprise you for the first time, but you'll start to know it.
