Media Rainbow Entertainment

NOTE: Not to be confused with Media Home Entertainment.

Background: Media Rainbow Entertainment was founded in 1986 as a Delaware corporation. Over the next 19 years, the company became a leading worldwide licensed game developer, publisher and mass marketer. The company's headquarters were located in Troy, Michigan. By the late 1990's, Media Rainbow began making games with negative reviews, but there were still a few with positive ones in this era. In 2005, Media Rainbow filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings which caused it to be closed. All of its divisions and studios were closed and assets liquidated by June 2005.

1st Logo

Nickname: "The Rainbow M"

Logo: On a rainbow gradient background, a large, black, fancy-script "M" fades in. Everything then fades into the opposite color, making the "M" the same rainbow gradient color and vice-versa. A script "Media Rainbow Entertainment", at a slanted angle, writes itself below the "M".

Trivia: In The Mixels Show: Mixed Up!, the Media Rainbow logo can be seen on some Mixopolis level billboards.

  • An enhanced version replaced the original version starting in 1994.
  • On some titles since 1997, the website URL,, later changed into in 1999, is under the enhanced logo.
  • On Pepper Ann: In 3D!, the black background of the enhanced version is replaced with a space background. A green comet flies past through the logo. In the PC version the byline is removed, but it is intact on the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 versions.

FX/SFX: The fading and the company name writing itself.

Music/Sounds: Descending-pitch synthesized piano notes that sound similar to the 1996 Warner Home Video logo.

Availability: Seen on Media Rainbow games of the time.

Scare Factor: None to low. The black colors may get to some, but it's overall a beautiful logo.

2nd Logo

Nickname: "The Rainbow M II"

Logo: On a black background, the script "Media Rainbow Entertainment" from the first logo streaks through, leaving a rainbow trail. The background then fades to a dark tan/black gradient background, the words fly to almost the bottom of the screen. A blue flash then reveals the rainbow script "M", also from the first logo.

Variant: A slower variant exists on one PS1 title.

FX/SFX: The words streaking leaving a rainbow trail, the flash. Awesome animation. The music sounds like a celebration too.

Music/Sounds: Sounds of the words flying, then a majestic marching fanfare.

Availability: Seen on Media Rainbow games for PlayStation, Saturn and PC. By 1998 this logo was rarely used (Instead using the enhanced version of the 1th logo).

Scare Factor: None to minimal. This is again a beautiful logo.
