Great American Multiplex

Background: This company was started in 1924 as Humboldt Theatres and renamed Great American Multiplex Theatres (commonly known GAM) in 1969. Today, this company operates theaters in the United States, Canada and 9 other countries. They are famous for inventing the seat cupholder in 1981 and opening the first megaplex (a theater with 14 or more screens and stadium seating) in Dallas, Texas, USA in 1995. It's theaters operate under five brands: GAM; GAM Film Depot; GAM Space; GAM Charles Barkley and GAM Multitheatre UCI. The latter four all operate theaters that were formerly operated by those respective theater chains.
